Small-group tuition · Primary to pre-university

Calm lessons, clearer thinking.

Sora Cove is a quiet, focused place to learn. We find where understanding slips, rebuild it patiently, and help students walk into every test knowing what they know.

Our approach

Steady progress, not cramming

Every lesson is built around three simple habits that help students understand their subjects, not just memorise answers.

Find the real gap

A relaxed starting check-in shows us which ideas are secure and which need rebuilding, so time goes where it matters.

  • Friendly, low-pressure check-in
  • Plan shared with families

Learn in small groups

Students are grouped by level and pace. Small numbers mean every learner is heard, questioned and encouraged each week.

  • Placement by level, not just age
  • Space to ask “why?”

Clear, kind feedback

Marked work comes back with specific next steps. Students learn to spot their own mistakes and fix them with confidence.

  • Written notes on practice work
  • Exam technique woven in

What to expect

A term at Sora Cove

Families always know what their child is working on and how it’s going. Here’s the shape of a typical term.

  1. Week one

    Starting check-in

A short, friendly task helps us set goals and place your child in the right group.

  2. Every week

    Lesson and practice

New ideas taught step by step, followed by a small set of practice to keep them fresh.

  3. Mid-term

    A note home

A brief written update on progress, effort and what we’re focusing on next.

  4. End of term

    Progress review

We look back at the goals together and agree the plan for the following term.

Questions

Good to know

Answers to the questions families ask most before joining.

How does the trial lesson work?

Your child joins a regular lesson at their level. Afterwards we share a few notes on how it went and suggest the group we think suits them best. There’s no obligation to continue.

How are students placed in groups?

We group by current level and pace rather than age alone, using the trial lesson and starting check-in. If a group stops being the right fit, we’ll talk with you about moving.

What if my child misses a lesson?

Let us know ahead of time and we’ll send the lesson notes and practice so nothing is lost. Where there’s space, a catch-up seat in another group may be offered.

Is there homework?

Yes, but it’s kept short and purposeful — usually a focused practice set that reinforces the week’s lesson, marked with written feedback.

Can we join partway through a term?

Often, yes. If a suitable group has space, your child can start after a trial lesson, and we’ll share notes on the topics already covered.
